چکیده

| Multiple access interference (MAI) is a signi cant limiting factor in the performance of direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems. Various multiuser detection techniques have been developed to combat the e ects of MAI. These detection techniques either assume the knowledge of all the users in the system (conventional) or assume the knowledge of the user of interest only (blind). Due to the limitations of the blind algorithms in the presence of a large number of interferers, there is a signi cant performance gap between these two classes of detectors. Additionally, in practice, the receiver could have only partial knowledge of the interference. In this paper, we develop a new class of detectors, partially blind multiuser detectors, that use information about a subset of interferers and bridge the performance gap between the blind and the conventional multiuser detectors.

Nonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems

Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...

Performance bounds for linear blind and group-blind multiuser detectors

In blind multiuser detection for CDMA systems, the receiver knows only the code of the user of interest, while in group-blind multiuser detection the receiver knows a subset of codes, e.g., the in-cell users in a basestation. This paper derives bounds for the performance of linear blind and group-blind multiuser detectors. The bounds are derived under a number of different system assumptions. T...

Group-blind multiuser detection for uplink CDMA

The recently developed blind techniques for multiuser detection in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems lead to several near–far resistant adaptive receivers for demodulating a given user’s data with the prior knowledge of only the spreading sequence of that user. In the CDMA uplink, however, typically the base station receiver has the knowledge of the spreading sequences of all the use...

Doubly Spread DS-CDMA for Efficient Interference Cancellation

In this paper, a new spreading scheme, which consists of two stages of spreading, is considered for DS-CDMA systems. The data of a user is spread first with a long signature sequence and then with a short signature sequence. The scheme combines the advantages of the two types of spreading techniques and allows us to suppress MAI by performing both beamforming and multiuser detection efficiently...

Blind adaptive multiuser detection based on Kalman filtering

Although several Kalman filtering algorithms have been presented for adaptive multiuser detection, none is “blind” due to requiring training data sequences and/or more knowledge than the spreading waveform and delay of the desired user. This paper proposes a novel blind adaptive multiuser detector based on Kalman filtering and compares it with previously published LMS and RLS algorithms for bli...
